Why join ‘The On-line Community of Management and Leadership Practice’?
Social and professional networking is rapidly becoming the norm for those aged between 35 and 55, and already is the norm for those aged between 15 and 35. We are now just beginning to see intranets being used to support management and leadership development with some of our clients. Some observers are saying that the success of management and leadership development will no longer be measured by how many people attend training programmes and workshops (where at best there is a 20% retention and transfer of learning – unless learning transfer is supported by attendant coaching initiatives). Rather, success will be measured by the number of people engaging in the new on-line resources that are emerging. Through these, participants can engage at any time with other individuals that currently share or have previous experience of the challenges and development issues they are themselves facing.

How the community works
This website contains, through the ‘See Inside’ facility, the first 26 pages of ‘The Knowledge: Management and Leadership from A to Z’. These pages cover the following content:

• Introduction
• Developing yourself as an effective learner
• Notes on the practical exercises
• The characters in the opening story
• Zen and the art of cathedral building – an apocryphal tale

…along with the first three A to Z sections, namely:

• Aspiration
• Balance
• Coach

Within the on-line community you can participate in a range of themed forums that are related to ‘The Knowledge’ content. Of course, we hope you will find this content and facility of sufficient value to purchase a copy of ‘The Knowledge’ at some point!

The website also contains a developing set of additional ‘Resources' for management, leadership and organization development, all of which can be read online and requested for free via email so you can print them out (with the exception of a couple that are drawn from copyright protected sources). And within the on-line community you can participate in forums that are directly related to these resources.
